How do you value a plate like this and what's it worth? Has anyone sold a private plate before, if so, where's the best place to advertise it (ebay, numberplate.com site, DVLA, etc). I'M OPEN TO OFFERS, but in no rush to sell as some stupid low price. To be honest I'm keen to sell it to someone who rides their 916/996 on the road and will appreciate having a special plate on a special bike.
I just paid £250 for TB08 WSB (08 being Bayliss's championship year of course) for my Bayliss 1098R and my other Bayliss came with V21 BAY for free. My guess is you paid £250 from DVLA You have a limited market unlike some expensive plates that are worth thousands - clearly the best place to advertise is on a Ducati Forum or Ebay listed under motorcycles 916 996 Foggy Replica so people see it (until Ebay spot it and move it - but I wouldn't expect much more than £500 ish or £1000 max.) Ultimately it is worth what someone will pay, so stick it on Ebay on an auction starting at a reasonable level to get people bidding. Perhaps list it as a buy it now for what you feel you want for a month to get the watchers over 30 days, then move it to auction at a 0.99p start and it will clearly find it's value.
It's the best way of getting a bigger audience as with a 10 day max auction many won't see it - for sale for a month first (not at too much of a ridiculous price) will gain relevant 'watchers' and more via word of mouth who own Foggy Reps swap to auction and it will clearly find it's value so no need for high reserves
Careful with the Reg sell/ buy companies. A common ruse is to offer to sell it for you at a low cost but actually in the small print is a clause for an extortionate top slice to them, if you happen to sell it privately at any time!
I always smile when people have to explain their so called personal number plate...all a bit tacky really.
I only have to explain mine for you due to them being self explanatory to everyone else... This one V2 as it's a V Twin and when it goes out in the Fog: then there is a V Twin in the Fog
I bought R1 YSF for £1050 and sold it 5 month later for £1650 or £1750 cant mind, Last time i looked it was still on an old R1, Just depends how much someone wants it, If i remember correctly the plate i bought was for sale on reg transfers, They had it for sale on behalf of a customer, They take a pretty large slice to sell it, I sold the plate through ebay a long time ago, Gives you an idea
Its funny when the S has had a very small tweet many folk doesnt notice its an S instead of a Z, Tbh it did look ok, Only took a few days to sell
I would go off the reservation and try something different. Have a price in mind, then a little bit on top so you can negotiate back down to your original wanted price then Contact foggy himself asking if he wants it either through his own website http://www.carlfogarty.com/contact/ or his twitter account https://twitter.com/carlfogarty?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author
nah, i get the v2 fog .....yours is just stretched to say the least...YSF is exactly my point...buy YZF then its relative...bit like PEN 15
