Looks like I have now got diabetes...............don't know which version yet..... I think I'll start smoking again........... 'Kin hell!!!
Not the best of years, Al. But good to see you are still standing. Keep on going, young fella, I'm sure you will face this in the same way you seem to have told the heart attack fairies to go and fuck right off.
Al ... I think we should run off !!! Got diagnosed with Fybro .. Gall stones now need spinal surgery ... Maybe it's the air in the county we live in .. Or they put something in the water ?? Hope your ok!
I'm sorry to hear that. It'll definitely be a lifestyle change but it's manageable. My dad was diagnosed with it in his late fifties and he's coming up to 86 next week, and it's cancer that will get him.
Geez Al, if you had any luck, it would be bad. I hope you can adjust and manage it without too much trouble. All the best Fella.
can i ask how you discovered this…….was it after a doctors appointment or did you add up the symptoms?
For me Andy, I had a slight TIA which lasted about 10 seconds. I got the shock of my life and went to hospital. They found nothing at the time so I booked myself into my GP. They took a blood sample and I got a phone call the next day. "You've got Diabetes and need to come back in". I hadn't been to the GP in 10 years. Now I'm there every few months to be prodded and poked, not to mention prescriptions every month too. Hey ho
shouldn't we start a medical issue comparison thread where we can all compare our issues like mods on our bikes. 'ooh today I recieved my diclofenac 500iu upgrade - buzzin here' 'after a few teething problems my new Ti hip replacement is great - toppaz' 'received my new steroid nasal spray. ive never got out of my shackleton button back chair so easy - breathin like a race horse here'
A routine blood test to check on the kidney / liver function handling the heart attack meds raised the alarm....... ..........more blood tests soon to establish which type.......... AL
We have a type 1 expert in the family, if we can offer any help just call! I'm guessing you're going to be glad to see the back of 2013 so here's hoping next year is much better for you both! Let us know if there's anything we can do. Chris and Nicky
Had type 1 for 24 years. It's a change but you'd be surprised how flexible you can be. I don't know how they teach you to manage it from the start but once you are settled try to get on a 'Daphne' or 'insight' course so you can be as flexible as you can. PM if you have any questions and want the answers from someone with the disease rather than the docs.
Or as my mum says Where there's a will there's a relative She had type 2 at 40 - she's 81 now and still drinks a bottle of red a day
