1299 F/s 1199 & 1299 Showa Bpf Fork Conversion

  1. Thought I’d post on here before selling these parts individually, in case anyone is thinking of upgrading their 1199/1299 front forks.

Owing to new bike purchase I have everything needed to convert the base 1199/1299 from Marzocchi to Showa BPF’s (as fitted standard to all base 899/959/V4 & new V2).

For the benefit of anyone who wasn’t aware, the Showa BPFs are common across all Pani’s, the only difference being they are 43mm rather than 57mm on the Marzocchi’s.

All that is needed to make the swap is a 43mm top yoke & clips on’s, bottom yoke and all other parts are common.

Main benefits of swapping the forks are, adjustability (the Marzocchi’s are extremely firm and the rebound and compression adjustment is woeful) and having arguably a better performing, more widely supported and upgradeable fork that doesn’t blow their seals every six months!

I bought these after upgrading my rear shock with a view to installing aftermarket cartridges, rather than upgrading the Marzocchi’s which would have limited resale value, but they were so much better than the Marzocchi’s out the gate I didn’t bother.

Sourcing these parts took months, the forks themselves were from a brand new V4 being converted to full Ohlins and have done less than 1500 miles.

The forks are spotless, save for some scratches from the triple clamps on the left one (unavoidable and can’t be seen when fitted) the yokes & clipons clamps are also in good condition.

Looking for £595 collected, but can post for cost.

  2. I went the Panigale R Ohlins route, then spent again to get the 'rocks' taken out so road usable! But would have definitely bought these for a third of the price. What bike have you bought next? Dave

  3. Di you sell these in the end or are they still for sale?

  4. Hi,

Forks now sold, top yoke and clip ons still available.

  5. Thanks Matt, I may well be interested in the yoke and clip ons, if I find some nice condition BPF's elsewhere.

  6. No probs, if you’re thinking of doing it the yoke and clip ons can be a bit of an arse to find.

Be careful any yoke you find isn’t from a crashed bike as the clip on location lugs will almost certainly be snapped off the underside.

You’ll also want to mount the fork tops of the BPFs flush to allow for the shorter fork set up.

BPFs are physically shorter length than the Marzocchi’s.

I worked out mounting the BPFs flush is the equivalent of dropping the front end about 6mm over standard.

Length can be added back in with a cartridge kit but I didn't notice any adverse affects on road or track with them standard.

  7. Nice one, thanks Matt
