959 Fairing Sound Deadening

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by flatstick959, May 20, 2016.

  1. Could anyone with 899/1199/1299 check and see what if any sound deadening foam the bike has.

I want to remove the insulation from my bike but want to check what the earlier bikes were like

Do the have any sort of heat insulation or reflective material inside the panels?

    Thanks

  2. Nothing at all on my 899, just bare plastic!

  3. As above the 899 has no sound deadening which is probably why it sounds like amplified thunder..

  6. Nothing on the 1299 either. Just the fairing.

  7. It will be more Euro4 nonsense. The sound is measured from above the middle of the bike, and apparently the engine noise was as big a problem as the exhaust.

  8. Bike had its first service and the tech removed it for me while he was on - it's only Velcro holding it on

I'm sure I read before there was a few kg of sound deadening - well that's bollocks cos it weighed precisely bot all...

  9. Yeah I think the exhaust is no quieter than the 899 it's just the 959 positions the sound away from the centre of the bike where the noise test is taken from
