1200 Farewell

  1. Hi all,

Just wanted to say that I reluctantly sold the 2012 MTS and have moved onto something a bit different - XT660Z.

The Multi was the best bike I have owned and I was always gob smacked by its cross country ability at speed (something which would have ended in tears here in Switzerland). That and the very expensive labour charges here made me decide to sell up and go for something a bit simpler. The bike did 16,200km without any issues and I really enjoyed riding it.

Sure the XT660 is not as fast or sophisticated but I've just completed a tour of Eastern Europe - as far as Romania, Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia with a bit of Italy thrown in for good measure. All 5,000km completed without any problems in under 2 weeks! I will do a ride report and if there's interest I can add the link here when it's ready (and no one objects!).

So I have a Navihalter that's up for sale, along with the chain adjustment spanner. I'll be back in the UK in August and can post from there to keep costs down or someone can collect from me in London. Please let me know if you're interested in these items.

    Many thanks,

    Gio

  2. The XT660 is a cracking little bike...........feel free to post continue posting here as and when you like - I'd be interested in your eastern Euro ride report ;-)

  3. I was in Croatia and Montenegro for a fleeting 2day visit a couple of weeks ago , but I did think it could be a great place for a biking holiday, what are your thoughts, are the roads ok,police views on speeding etc?

  4. This was the second visit to Croatia and first visit to Montenegro. First trip to Croatia was with the MTS and I travelled down from Trieste to Zadar (with a stop in Rovinj). Last year I noticed police on bridges on the motorway in Croatia but this time around I didn't notice any police in Croatia - did the coast road from Montenegro to Split.

Montenegro had some police presence on the roads, some were hidden from view (for traffic from the opposite direction) however we had no issues whilst there. The border guard told my friend and I that they didn't have any speed cameras in the country!

The blast across southern Serbia did result in us being pulled over though. I was ahead and was going a bit quick, got flagged by a bike cop hiding in the undergrowth but I kept going (and stopped about 100m up the road) but my mate went over the white line and he was told to pay a fine. After a few minutes discussion he was let off with a warning, otherwise it could have cost up to €300.
