Hi Guys, Possibly some thoughts and guidance wrt the FCR 41's and MOTION PRO throttle and cables. In my opinion I find the MOTION PRO throttle and cables to be really CHEAP and NASTY Is there a drop in option available with cables??? Can the original throttle assy, DOMINO I think be used with suitable made up cables, taking into consideration the specific cam rotation. push pull lengths. Many thanks! K
I used the Motion Pro throttle/cables on my M900 for a year or so, worked fine but I wanted a fast idle option and had a spare 916 throttle (has built-in fast idle switch), so I modified the cable setup to use that which is a single cable setup. Works well, although gives a very short/heavy throttle action but I made that better with a throttle 'tamer' twistgrip. I now have a throttle with about the same action/movement as my 916 (which has a fast throttle cam) albeit a bit heavier due to the heavy springs on the FCRs. They work fine without the closer cables BTW.
Agree doing away with the closer cables - makes adjustment so much easier. Never had any issues of sticking slides. Tried using the OE twist grip, but the action was too heavy, so staying the Motion Pro one. Its not as nicely made as OE, but at least its a light action. I also found that the Motion Pro cable outer got stiffer and took a set with time ( been fitted for 5 years), which affected its ability to 'adjust' as you turn the bars. Have kept the inner and nylon liner, but changed the outer for an old British(?) one, which is much more fkexible
Thanks Gents for all your suggestions and info offered!!! Much appreciated. Yeah the more I look at and fiddle with the MOTION PRO THROTTLE $1.25 product, the more I want to trash can it...:rage: I shelled out for a brand new Ducati OEM throttle, so my plan is to try and get some suitable cables made up, and fit as close to original product. Will update on progress. Regards
Had a pull cable manufactured to fit the OEM Throttle, works great. Couldn't convince myself to fit that MOTION PRO JUNK...
