Was supposed to going to Portimao end of this month with FE, things looking good with travel/quarantine bullshit but got an email today cancelling the event. £300 worth of flights going to shit then, pretty pissed off!

Wouldn’t trust any trip overseas at the mo, regardless of destination and companies involved. Binned my bike trip to Ireland as it’s all so uncertain for anything this year.
Yeah took a bit of a gamble booking it but this morning all the signs were pointing to good timing for travel etc, but then all down in flames now. So pissed as I just wanted a break away.
Fingers crossed you can get a refund for the TD at least. If you can’t move flights and travel is OK, just take a short break in the sun away from here !!
If it's any consolation, until the first week of the 2nd lock down I was buying a house in Spain and had sold my house. Had to stop it all
I've a friend that left on thursday morning at 3am towing a MG car on a trailer in convoy with her friend in a luton van with his house furniture etc traveling to his new apartment in Bergamo northern italy ( lucky bastard ) the only trouble's they need to arrive at the Itailan border by midnight tonight or else because of the restrictions. He flew back from Italy less than a couple of weeks ago signing the documents for the property but still had to quarantine himself, he also had to payout for covid-19 tests at £800 for going back this time for some odd reason.So basically a nightmare for anybody traveling these days. #anybody wanting goods brought back from Bergamo please let me know and i''ll make a phone call to see if they're up for it on their return journey.
It’s a total role of the dice. A few mates of mine have been in and out of the country a lot over recent months and tbh the whole duration of covid with no trouble really at all.
Did FE give a reason for the cancellation? I'm going to guess that lots have pulled out due to restrictions, Covid tests, quarantine etc which would make the event unviable. Have they mentioned a refund as they cancelled it after all? Personally I don't use/trust FE and haven't since 2008 following the fat idiots behaviour funnily enough on a TD at Portimao, hopefully he'll do the right thing. I'll echo what others have said in that any foreign travel is a gamble currently, last track day I did was Aragon in 2019 and I'm just hanging fire until things become a little more stable and there's confidence that you can book/attend. Can you not move the flights to another date to avoid losing the money in full?
That's sounds encouraging, but also he can play his joker card if required on the day as he's new Pirelli calander contract in his pocket which'll help matters.
It might have been Portimao cancelling. Had one with NL binned this year due to Portimao favouring a bigger paying event.
Theres always one prepared to give FE the benefit of the doubt, I suspect he can't afford to take a bath on it. NL have run events even at a loss to A\; Help get people out and B: Burn through the substantial amounts of credit they are holding before they can start taking in new revenue, effectively a massive percentage of this years euro stuff for NL is just last years money being spent. They want that off the books asap.
