1200 DVT Fender Extender Extra Bit?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by BigAlan, Aug 29, 2017.

  1. Apparantly I need a dealer only part before I can fit a pyramid plastics fender extender, does anybody know the part number or have an alternative solution?

Parts coming in now and fitting them as soon as I can, thankfully the wife has no idea what's going on

  2. That looks nothing like my front mudguard at all. Mine is way higher up.

  3. Come with two what? I purchased a 16 model with 1200 miles on it from our local dealer.

  4. Ahh well I never got that one, now I have to track one down.

  5. As wayne58 said, your bikes front mudguard should have come in two parts. There's the useless, but all be it pretty front (colour matched to your bike) part, and the only thing it's any good for is holding cables and hoses as its shit against guarding against mud, and a black rear part which you can if you wish connect to the coloured part of the so called mudguard, which you attach the extender too, and as said earlier be careful fitting the fender extender as it has a tendency to rub against the tyre

  6. You may want to have read of the above.

  7. I fitted the longer rear section off a Multistrada to my Enduro (with a bit of modification to the fixings) and then a Pyramid plastics extender... seems to keep the radiator much cleaner and its not rubbing on the tyre. The only issue i can see is that under extreme suspension compression the extender may touch the evotech guard and the radiator...

  8. Anyone reading this thread please do not buy the Givi engine guards. I have warned them that i was going to slag them off as they have constantly denied that the Givi engine guards are flawed. I purchased a set from ebay for £144 2 months ago. They came from Italy in a lovely heat shrunk plastic bag. I opened them & started to fit them using the instructions supplied. I thought it strange that the cross bar that goes below the radiator did not resemble the pictures on the ebay advert. I continued & fit them as per the instructions. I went on a ride & braked hard at a junction & heard a strange noise from the front of the bike & the bike bike seemed to veer. A guy i was riding with said stop. We pulled over & the rear or the front mudguard had hooked up over the cross bar. It damaged the bottom cooling fins of the radiator & broke the lugs of the fender extender. I contacted Givi UK who said (we do not talk to customers so talk to the dealer who sold you them). This i did. This went on for weeks. Eventually I re-contacted Givi who said in these strange circumstances we will deal with you direct, i had already told them that i nearly crashed the bike, due to there incompetence in supplying the incorrect parts in there kit. They asked me for photographs of the problem so i sent them pictures of my damaged radiator on a brand new bike. I received this reply.( It is clear that on page 3 of the fitting instructions that it says to remove the rear section of the front mudguard. In no part of the instructions does it say to refit this part) I replied that to remove & not replace the rear part of the front mudguard was to render the mutlistrada a sub standard motorcycle. I do not usually swear on this site but basically Givi UK told me to fuck off. I now have a 2017 multistrada 1200s with a busted radiator & broken front mudguard. I also after posting this await in abaitment the Italian mafia coming knocking on my door. Bring it on arseholes. See pictures included

  9. As you can see from the above picture the ebay item does not resemble the item i received. It is going to cost me a lot of money to put my motorcycle right. Why do these people always deny responsibility. I am sorry for anyone on here who thinks i am wrong on any of the points i have described. I just want my £17500 bike to be right. Any thoughts by members appreciated.

  10. Clearly not the same part on yours ?? And in their pic, it has a mudguard ? That's shit mate

  11. PS, not being hurtful as you have already suffered, but they don't look great anyway, what made you want them, bloody ugly, but that's only IMHO....Sorry Steve.

  12. Exactly wayne. I am fucking busted on this. Not usually so uptight but the wankers did not even acknowledge there was a problem. & to say trash your front mudguard to fit these bars is a joke.

  13. Clearly, you would not need to lose the front guard if the part that had turned up was the same as the picture !! I'd be bloody fuming, bin them and stick an R&G frame protector on. Job jobbed.

  14. The only reason i fitted them was as said in many of my posts. We go over some rough teraine & we stop to take photo,s or have a rest being old farts. Some of the rest stops are very uneven roads. I was always aware that if i crashed the bike it would be big style & a write off. But when stopping for the photo shoots on gravel it would be possible to slip & drop the bike. With this in mind i fitted the engine guards. They are just as pretty as the the rest of the butt ugly fuckers fitted by Ducati & evotech.

  15. Ok, sorry, I had read that before, but its late, and thus am a little dopey and sleepy currently so forgot. It looks to me like you just need a longer central section of steel tubing bending up at a greater height and angle, and thus should not be too difficult to knock up and spray in satin or have powder coated. I reckon that could be your route to take as it does not sound like Givi are gonna help much. I hope it works out for you mate. Best of luck

  16. Look at the photo,s & do the math. Brake hard & the rear of the front guard hooks over the cross bar. Now the bike suspension comes back up but the mudguard has hooked up behind the cross bar. Not knowing this i now steer the bike & the rear section of the mudguard is resting on the bottom row of the radiator. Turn right & left a few times & the radiator bottom fins start to fold up. I was at the Wensleydale cheese factory in Hawes when i was pulled over to the fact that my bike was slowly becoming trashed by the Give bar problem. I except that shit happens but when a big company like Givi tell you to fuck off & multiply then i am at war. Bastards.

  17. Yes i have a shit load of 25mm stainless conduit over from by electrical buisness so i could make one up. Wayne you maybe half asleep (manager won,t like that so wake up) but that is not the point. Givi are a big company & if i ran my company like that i would have gone to the wall a long time ago.

  18. Hi folks I had this happen on my multi fitted with the touratech bars fitted by the dealer am about to discuss with them

  19. It happened on my dvt with touratech bars also - 2 up with luggage under heavy braking.- it would have been easy to heavily drop the bike when it became trapped, luckily I didn’t.
I discarded the extender and upped the front preload nut
It’s a shit design and Ducati should tell you to do this modification.

  20. I’ve still got a right leg thanks to my touratech bars, they took the brunt and cracked the frame, so I’ll get some more when the the insurance pays out and I can get a new bike. Also had an ilmberger carbon extended guard on the front, no clash or interference at all.
