Normally replacing the filler cap is a 2min job as its only held in place by a few bolts bolts but when the two close to the hinge have their heads rounded then it becomes a few hours of patience...and good drill bits. Long story short, the heads had to be drilled out and removed with a bit of banging which actually meant the threaded studs which the bolts go into came detached from the tank. Whether this is due to age (there was a bit of corrosion, also might explain why the heads were rounded) or the "science" which had to be applied, who knows. Does anyone know if Ducati sell press fit studs or if any other place sells them? I've put it back together without a press fit into the tank and a long leak test (don't get me started on how long it takes to patiently get the fuel pump back in because of that fu***** o-ring, why Ducati...WHY?!) proves it doesn't leak.
