Finished My Pillar Drill Refurb At Last..

  1. My £129 fleabay pillar drill purchase is finally finished and up and running just fine.. 6ft tall and weighs a tonne.. She was one rusty mangled mess. Gears mangled, sheared bolts, threads knackered, no drive belt ( near impossible to find)..

To run of my power supply I purchased a Mitsubishi
( Japanese, what a sin) inverter so now I can programme speeds etc and reverse if required at the touch of a button..

Ford Puma gear knobs put to use.. Polished of course..

Wired inverter minus it's front cover..

    Lube system fitted ..

Milling vice nearly ready to go..

Re furbed table raise lower mech, with option of fitting my half inch drive ratchet too if required..

She was worth all the effort..

  2. Is the pillar drill Japanese too? :)

  3. Ha... I'll give you clue to the drills origin.... It's runs off a rubber belt.. !

  5. Good call.... Cincinnati to be specific..

  6. DRILLTASTIC ! :Woot:

    I love Engineering, me.

  7. Inverter's a good idea.

I fitted a 220v motor from an industrial textile machine (designed for variable speed/inverter use) to mine as the original 3-phase motor was knackered and whilst it works fine it does run faster than before, so that even on the lowest speed (4 step pulley/leather belt) it's a bit too fast for big drills.

  8. It has a Japanese handle :)
