Hi, I've now had my Multistrada for almost and year where I have explored a good portion of the UK and thought after doing the dreaded 18K Desmo service I would post my experience. I booked my bike in with Ducati Alton where to honest their friendly response made me feel more comfortable when quoting me £1200 for the desmo service depending on what else is found. ( I considered doing a small ride to the continent for a couple days where the desmo is £300 cheaper even with the ferry) Simon gave great service and kept me informed on the progress as they worked through the bike. in the end the final bill was £1144 which I think was due to them not having to change the air filter as I installed a K&N just before winter and the valves did not need new shims. Not bad for 18K miles. the last 6K being rather spirited. The service also included the cambelts as there is no point in taking a chance. Last year I added the Windscreen spacers https://iconicparts.uk/shop/ols/products/ducati-multistrada-screen-spacers probably the best upgrade to the bike. No more buffeting behind the screen which makes long journeys more pleasant and much quieter. K&N Filter which replaced the standard paper filter which looked like i had done a desert run. Massive improvement in midrange pickup. Oxford's Aqua Bag T70. brilliant for camping and holds a fortune. does not unsettle the bike when riding briskly. Standard she came with Paniers, and touring pack, heated grips are a God Send. I wanted to close by saying don't be afraid to put mileage on your bikes, I know its a big hit when you do the desmo but considering its only every 18K on the MS its not the end of the world.
Just what they are meant for , riding Sounds like you are having fun with yours Welcome into our mad house
My 18k service is looming, probably June or July. Need to get it booked in and save some pennies/sell a kidney.
Mine is now at 18k. I bought it a year ago and made sure they did a service and also the belts but not the full desmo service. At some point I guess I will have to bite the bullet and get the other bits done, hopefully a bit of a lower cost as some bits already done. I did find a time schedule online for Ducati servicing and that said 3 hours for a desmo service on a 950 Multistrada which does not quite equate to the £1k plus I seem to be others saying they have paid....
You could also considering doing the desmo service at home. I managed my first one with limited special tools (tdc locator) and a free app for the belts. The problematic part is having shims handy. I’m afraid it’s not just quite as easy as measuring and ordering for various reasons. Shim kits are about £400 to the uk but still better than £1200 and can always be sold afterwards. Worth considering if you can swing a wrench.
