Looking for some advice for a first trip abroad on bikes Travelling from N England and then want to go on the continent for approx. a week Leaving around the 27th August I realise that there will be loads of opinions and of course infinite destinations but - Eurostar and then through France or Ferry down to much further south? New hotel every night or Stay at a hub? Is it better to book in advance as you go ? Ca anyone recommend decent hotels as a hub? Thanks
+1 for ferry. You can go Hull or Newcastle, depending on your location. Saves tyres, and keeps you fresh. Fuel bills do add up on the bike so help offset cost. Great roads within 3-4 hours in Germany. Depending on numbers I would say don't book accommodation. That way you can follow the weather. Research a few options, such as; Switzerland passes, Black Forest and Mosel valley, Austria and French Alps. Then just follow the sun. We have just returned from a good tour, but being tied to pre booked accommodation that was central to the bad weather in mainland Europe at the time was a real negative point.
If you want to save some cash and don't mind bunking up try the youth hostels. Cheap, clean and you will find them in most cities and touristy places.
