Fitment help with geartronic indicator.

  1. Having purchased the above , I need a couple of pointers please . 1. I have had to make up an ally bracket to fit to my front race subframe, IMG_0734[1].jpg sorry pic is wrong way round I can never remember to hold phone on its side. Anyway that's where its going . I have to connect the different coloured wires to various differing locations, one of them being to the green/yellow wire to the ECU, am I correct in thinking the closest easiest place would be the wiring behind the instrument binnacle (as there is a green/yellow there , from the ECU obviously. So my first question is how do I connect into the terminal block this wire is into, and secondly I have forgotten how to remove this terminal connector from the instrument binnacle ( I did 5yrs ago to pass connector through subframe), but it has behind on the bottom of the push fit pin (the lower one of the three) a metal clip that secures the connector block to it. I don't want to reek this by being a knob with a pair of pliers and giving it a rage fuelled tug.

  2. You could contact PZ racing and ask them as I think they make the geartronic. I have a Youcam made by them and they were very helpful with identifying what wires to connect to get the TPS to work on the data acquisition. A scotchlok connector will allow you to splice into the wire for the ECU but you will need to cut open the sheath for access.

  3. I wouldn't use a Scotchlok connector on anything, let alone a Ducati ECU or anything automotive. You're asking for trouble (broken wires, damp ingress etc) if you do.

  4. Having looked up fitment on YouTube , the connections are made by splicing into loom up by instrument binnacle , soldering up and binding with rubber tape then electrical tape sealing the loom again. Do I want to do this ? .Well I only use my bike for comps, it's an 05 999 worth what £3500-5000 ish with some extras I could sell (full Ti race exhaust £1500) , water ingress wont be a prob , besides I don't use it if it rains. Think I'll do it and post up step by step pics. Watch this space.
