Fitting Brembo RCS19 issue... help required...

  1. Hi,

todays task not going too well...

Bought a Brembo RCS 19 master cylinder to go onto my 848. I'm having trouble fitting it to standard clip on. Am I a muppet....

    Issue is two fold.

    1. when I bolt the unit to the clip on, it is very close to the clip on clamping bolts, meaning that I don't have free choice at which angle to secure it...

    2. When fitted at the only angle available to me, then the brake level is not able to be pulled fully rear without it hitting the throttle cables.

Throttle cables are fixed in that position with the hole - locating stud of the the throttle assembly...

I could remove the stud in the throttle assembly, then rotate it down a bit (clockwise) so the lever doesn't hit it...

Issue is, it was labeled up as a Ducati brembo unit, so I wasn't expecting such as drama....

I'll try to post some photos in a wee while...

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Bob

  2. Ah yes.

When i did mine, i'd looked at the OEM clip-on and decided the clamp/bracket would foul it all up, so i bought some Lightech items instead, which have much leaner clamps.

Whilst i'm sure some may argue i didn't need to - I err'd on the side of caution and it worked perfectly, see picture for routing of throttle etc.

  3. Addtional note - I binned the OEM 848 engine kill switch for one off a 996, which was leaner, and gave me more room to play with.

  4. Many thanks; good tip about the kill switch... I see if I have a spare off the 748...

I ordered some other clips on ( just as spares) so I might wait till they turn up...

Next issue is working out how to mount the reservoir.... ( I like the way you've done yours...)

    Many thanks,

    Bob

Can't believe swapping one Brembo unit for another would be such a pain...

  5. The Motocorse reservoirs are works of art, but i had a nightmare trying to find them in the UK.

One UK supplier, who will not be named, wanted £756 for a pair, which was laughable.

In the end i sourced them on the continent, from a company called "Star Twin Trading", who are primarily an MV parts specialist.

They offered a kit specially made for the Brembo RCS set-up, and it fitted like a dream......a sexy billet dream.....mmmm

Think they cost me 400Euros for the pair in the end, including courier delivery, and they were worth every penny.

  6. My pleasure by the way, glad i could help out!

Enjoy them, they do make one hell of a difference! :upyeah:

  7. with the reservoirs why don't you go down the route of the 916 remote jobbies…..simples..

  8. for 80 dollars plus postage and all the hassle of import tax etc you could easily get the same brembo pots, tube clips etc from mode performance and 916 998 mountings from ebay or make them ….they are only bent bits of alloy..

  9. Must admit when i've bought stuff from Kyle Racing before, i was never charged import duty and VAT.

But yes, you can get these kits and similar items in the UK:

BREMBO HPK/RCS CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR KITS - UK ROAD AND RACE

Brembo Front Brake & Clutch Master Cylinders

  10. Many thanks for the tips for far...

I have got a spare kill switch in my box of 748 parts.... I'll put that on, as the extra space it will make will be a bonus ( If I use my spare clipons to mount the system, then my OEM become my spares... )

I've chased the wiring back, and helpfully (not) they have different connectors....

Before I go and make changes, I presume its just a case of pinning out the switches with a volt meter; then splicing the wires from the 748 switch into the 848 plug?

    Thanks,

    Bob

  11. I remember my 848 having a different plug to the 996 switch, so i had to salvage the 848 plug and modify the 996 switch.

If you take your time and be careful it's not that difficult to do.

  12. Yep...

I've just found a cheap 848 switch on eThief; I think I'll get that and use that to splice into... Keep the original as it is in case I make a hash of it....

  13. the pins in the connectors fit both plugs with the right tool you can swap the plug at the end…..or you can buy the correct end from mick boesman bikesportdevelopments..

  14. Thats what i meant - Small braddle and they pop out with care.

  15. If you want more room, and its a race bike after all, take the light switch off and relocate the kill switch to the left bar. No splicing dicing or thricing whatsoever.

Also, as Andy says the 916 type bracket works, or you can just get some alli and make your own. Again, its a race bike and function over form sometimes. Spend the £50 on something more important ;-)
