1199 Fitting Kreiga Luggage

  1. Hi,

I'm off to France next week and thought it would be worth fitting some additional storage options. I already had the Kreiga tail pack kit mounted for commuting to work and used a US10 & US20 dry pack combo.

To get this fitted correctly, I removed the three original allen key bolts under the pillion seat and replaced them with slightly longer hex head ones. I then shortened the Kreiga fitting straps and cut a hole in each one for the new bolts to fit through. Finally, to help make the mounting more secure I put a large washer on each side of the strap.

Remember to at least melt the cut ends of the luggage strap - I actually stitched them - to prevent fraying.

To be honest, the straps are slightly too long. I was unable to make them any shorter as the double thickness of the loop wouldn't allow the pillion seat to click back in to place.

I've ridden with a full 20L pack strapped to a 10L one and there were no issues with the load slipping.

Be careful with getting off in particular as the height of the tail pack is considerable - and I'm only 5' 9"!!

  2. Hi Matt, could you post a picture of it all fitted to the bike please? I'm gonna need something soon and yours sounds interesting Ta

  3. Hi Tim. Please see the images of the kit all fitted.

Be careful with overfilling the tank bag. I found that it sticks right in your chest if you fill a US 20.

  4. Below are the images for fitting the tank bag. I found stitching the padding over the straps a good idea to prevent damage to the paint work.

  5. Thanks Matt, how long does it take to fill up? and hows the tanks paint afterwards?

  6. There are. Couple of quick release clips on the tank adaptor straps. These are the circular 'buttons' near the seat.

You can leave the us20 on the tank adaptor when you're filling up. Just be careful to make sure any spilt fuel is not on the top if the tank when you buckle the clips.

The paintwork looks fine although I will take the adaptor off for the rest of the year after a trip to silver stone for the motogp

  7. A couple of pics to demonstrate.

If you need the anti scratch material, search Amazon for '
Anti Slip Scratch High Grip Motorcycle Motorbike Luggage Passenger Mat (90 X 60)'. It's £7.99 with free delivery.

I used fishing line for stitching the material together. Hopefully, it won't rot.
