Evening all, lovely weather. Ok got myself a carbon front sprocket cover, easy to sneak past wife, hehe. Anyway popped in garage tonight, 2 screws, loosen old cover, annnnnddd... Argh.. How hard.?..! Ok gave up cant remove old cover, is there a trick here I am missing ? Gear linkage in the way, anyone got any tips for a crap office chair mechanic like me ? Which part of linkage should I remove ? Bugs, I removed the cover initially to clean out a lot of the old crud that had gathered there from the chain lube! It's a fiddly job, but I seem to remember that it was a case of down and twist, and then pull the top out first??? I think I also undid the gear selector, but didn't change the adjustment settings....it's been a year ago, so the old memory is fading....hope this helps!
what does the clutch slave cylinder look like ? - sorry if its a dumb question, but basically the gear pedal and the linkage is in the way...
I'm sure when I removed the sprocket cover to change the front sprocket I did remove some of the gear linkage but I also removed the clutch slave cylinder which attaches to the engine casing just above the gear linkage. If you follow the clutch hose down from the master cylinder it goes into the slave cylinder. There are three bolts and it comes off but pull it out straight as it has the actuating arm attached (and once removed try and keep it clean from muck and don't pull on the clutch lever). You will need a torque wrench to refit the cylinder. You may find you can do it without removing the cylinder but think I found it easier by doing that
By the way on the gear linkage you only have to remove one bolt, you don't need to take the linkage off the spline....
