  1. Well peaps

I'm new to the forum and have just found out Ducati no longer sell the black foam surrounds for our bikes, mine on My MK1 SL is ok but a bit rubbed at the corners but is good enough for dimensions.

I have spent 30 years in the foam industry in the Uk so have the contacts, would there be enough interest if I looked at getting these manufactured ? they would be made using the correct colour and type of foam.

If we have any cad experts here then I could do with some help drawing the shape accurately
    .
    Any way let me know

  2. Good shout! They melt if left in direct strong sunlight (should last well then! :upyeah:), hence the rounding-off & shrinking etc...

Would have one, price dependant? :)

  3. Apart from using CAD regularly......

.....and I have two spare foam ones.......

.....I just made a polished aluminium one.....

    ....so I have a profile.......

    .....but for a 750.........

    AL.

  4. Isn't the foam an anti-vibe mounting for the clocks to stop them ViBrAtInG aPaRt?

  5. I want a 3-clock one tho?? (Sulks)

  6. Buy one from Italy theve only got 3 left !

Unlike other extra parts sold on th UK

  7. I would not mined one depending on cost bit would like it a bit darker like the original. (mine is 2 holes also)

If you need some line work in autocad let me know and I will try and measure one up.

    Cheers,

    Gaz

  8. Yeah the mtl looked very Light in the pic , dark is no problem, autocad would be great we just need an accurate drawing to kick this off , I will then do all the Donkey work and hopefully twist a few arms !
If someone want to draw the 3 gauge type I'll have a go at that as well.

  9. Hey, I have a "Wants" list, and a "Needs" list, the two share no common parts!

  10. Dunno.....they are on rubber bushes in the plastic dash panel.

  11. Like the 750 & 600 one then.....no oil temp gauge.....That's what mine is...

  12. OK, you do it then......

But I have the metal one......tee-hee.....

    AL.

  13. I can draw it up if you wanted, what output do you need?
Iges, step or I can supply CATIA native files if it helps.

    Al, do you do machining?

  14. I do an awful lot of filing and using my electric drill as a lathe....You would be surprised what I do with that.........just made four ally frame bungs with it........and an ally warning light panel (just debating how to do the coloured bits now).

    But no...not really....

However, having made the alloy panel for fitting above the foam (it fits) I could use it to provide a template drawing...

  15. I'd be interested!

  16. Just to be a pain in the a*se I would be interested but I have a couple of extra gauges (VDO oil temp and px gauges) that I'd like to mount in the dash. I know that there's room as they came mounted on a home made alloy plate which fits over the exisiting dash. It would be really cool if I could give the whole thing a "factory fitted" look by mounting it in foam. Is it feasible to make a one off like this or do the economies of scale make this a non-starter?

    Cheers,

    WW

  17. I need to check how one of my customers would cut them , the originals would be pressed using a tool , something that could be replicated at a one of cost for the tool, however I'm looking at asking one of my customers to see if it can be done with their water jet cutter , once I have this answer hopefully next week I will then know what kind of cad file is needed.

i think specials would be a no no , but you could cut out the extra holes carefully with a scalpel , as any slight imperfections would be hidden by the bezel surround.

  18. Got some line work into Autocad, just need to mess about printing them out full size and checking the template. Will continue messing with it until you find out what you want from your customers. I have access to solid modelling package if you need something a bit more exotic.

    Cheers,
