Just watched this BBC iPlayer - The Somme: Secret Tunnel Wars, which is a fascinated hour long documentary regarding the tunnels used during the Battle of the Somme. Well worth a watch :smile:
I have spoken with Peter Barton...... ....Excellent presenter and is probably the most knowledgeable of all the historians interested in WW1..... ....if you need to establish something about a relative involved in the Somme etc, he is the person to contact. AL
the program on bbc4 last night about the last hours of the war was very thought provoking.what about the general whe sent his men into battle in the last minutes so they could take a town and have a bath, funny until you realise men died and were wounded and could have walked in ten minutes later without resistance.
