Just snapped two caliper bolts, does the casting just slide off the fork leg if I undo bolt 8 (see pic) so I can take it somewhere to get fettled?
No, they will screw off the fork leg and they're not easy to do as they will be tight and probably loctited so will likely need heat and force but holding securely so unless you can remove the bolts in situ then you'd be best to remove the whole fork leg. Are the bolts steel?
Asking because if you have access to welding equipment it should be easy(ish) to remove steel bolts from aluminium housing. I had the same problem last week with a broken (steel) bolt in an aluminium gearbox casing, bolt was stuck and then broke off, pretty much flush with the casing, an 8mm bolt - I placed a 10mm nut over the top of it and filled the nut with weld. The weld stuck the nut to the bolt (but not to the aluminium), the heat helped release it and it screwed out with a spanner on the nut. Might work for you without having to remove the forks?
Thanks, yeah I have a man that can do that sort of thing, no welding gear myself (or the skills to use it). Fork leg should come out fairly easily. Hopefully.
I think you might find the seller has inadvertently missed a 0 off the price, more likely to be 2000,00 Euros, down from 2156,00 Euros. Andy
Others can always find alternatives. If they are still listed at the end of the month, I'll be grabbing a set simply for spares. It's not much more expensive than buying all the relevant stuff to service the forks!
That's a bargain. Part number means it's for a 1200 DVT so not suitable for Edward's Enduro though. Think that they only have the one side, the left fork is different to the right. They have quite a bit of interesting stuff at decent prices, Multi Touratech pillion seat anyone? Passing though Grenoble on the way back from the EMM in late June, might have to check nearer the time and drop in... I'm splitting from the group there anyway.
