hi chaps the paint is coming off the fork bottoms on my 1198 is there a specific colour or is a case of get something close oh there showa forks?? cheers
I've just done the bottoms of my forks. I used halfords black satin finish which seems blacker than the orignal colour but better for it in my opinion. Here are before, during and after photos.
Yes, Halfords spray can. I gave the parts that needed painting a good soda blasting (really good because it removes the paint and corrosion from aluminium but does not damage the chrome of the fork legs or the solid aluminium) then masked off the major holes etc. and the adjuster/drain thingies and sprayed with etch primer and then satin finish black paint. Both paints were aerosol spray cans. The big test will be to see if the paint stays in place over the winter!
