Fork Height, Anyone Got A Close Up Pic?

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by richgilb, May 20, 2015.

  1. I think the previous owner has dropped the yokes and I would like to raise it back to standard. Does anyone have a picture of the standard position for me to use as a reference?

  2. SS IE by the way!

  3. When you say height do you mean total length of the units or how far through the top yoke they are??

  4. How far through the top yoke they are is what I want to see.

  5. When the clipons and spacer ring are fitted(above the yoke) the bottom of the cap should be flush with top of clip on.

  6. I am at least two cm sticking through then. It feels too quick and tips in to easily. It also tank slaps easily. Hope all that will change when I raise it flush

  7. If it tank slaps, I suggest you check the steering head bearings.......too tight, worn or not lubed / corroded and it will tank slap.

  8. tipping easy are your tyres flat in the middle at all

  9. not a piccy from my bike but taken from my Haynes manual

  10. Mine has at least an extra half cm than that. Thing is they might not have for a standard bike when doing that manual....

Carby 900SS. Not sure if this is Standard but it was how I got it and it will be going back like this.

    Cheers Gaz.

EDIT:- Sorry clearly not the same, as you were.

  13. Yes ok but note it is a super sport with an 1100 Evo motor. So, lighter and more power.

  14. Regardless.............headstock bearings just a tiny bit too tight will cause it.......

  15. Re: johnboys pics. That looks about right. My SSie had spacer rings about 10mm tall below the clip ons. I think my2000 on had higher bars for more comfortable position which is probably the spacers.
Carby forks are shorter with bars fitted below the yoke. Overall ride height is the same though I think.

  16. here is some piccys of the bar clamps and fork tops on my bike have not altered the fork height on the bike since I got it but have raised the bars
