Hi All, Just joined and asking question's already....sorry :relaxed: Can you still purchase the damper rod and adjuster for the 916 forks? and are all years the same if I was to buy some secondhand forks to rob this part from? I have a set of forks on my rd500 but not sure on year so any ideas how I can find out? Many thanks in advance
I think the forks on the 748/916/996 and probably 998 were the same.Wiser heads will be along shortly to confirm or rubbish this.As for the actual year,there should be a couple of digits ,I think, in the casting on the lower part of the forks.The bit where the caliper bolts on.If its there, I think it will be on the back and say eg...98,obviously for 1998.
Ah,ignore that.I just had a look at some bits in my shed.It does have some numbers on there but no date stamp that I could see.Sorry about that.There are a couple of letters on there perhaps they relate to a year?
Just occured to me if,like mine,yours are the earlier forks,they will have 40mm caliper mounts.Later ones were 65mm.I think the change was around1999/2000.If you deffo have 916 forks they should be 40mm.
