Fork legs...position in yokes? (re 'turn in')

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by AndyW, Jul 30, 2013.

  1. Way back there was a discussion re raising the fork legs a few millimeters through the yokes i.e. lowering the front of the bike for quicker 'turn in'.
Somewhere along the line I lost the plot and never got round to doing anything but the subject has sprung to mind again as my bike is going in to the Dealer for new forks under Warranty so the ideal time to make any change.

    So....
    1) If you've raised your forks through the yokes - by how much?

    2) If not please take the measurement indicated in the photo below and post your result (just want to be sure of the standard setup.....i.e. any variations from the factory?!)

Not particularly concerned how the bike handles but sometimes feel a slightly better rate of turn in might be good.....certainly don't want to make steering overly quick! Thinking just 5mm change (which I did to my SV1000 and was happy with).
    Thanks

....almost forgot...the measurement for mine is 8mm (well 7.55mm if you're pedantic:)

  2. I did mine 5mm just after I bought it, better for me, slightly better turn in, but didn't make it twitchy at all. And a bit lower cause im a short arse!! :upyeah:

  3. Thanks Boomer.

.....and Steve (I did do some searches before posting honest!) - and they've corrected the reference to the Streetfighter in the later version of the manual!:
