How much sticks out from the top of the yokes, iirc its 11mm odd to the main lip, if this makes sense. Ian
I measured mine before I stripped the bike for rebuild, not sure if this is the set standard position though.
My memory was wrong, it is more, i have it at a smidgen under 20mm. Cant see it making much difference if its a few mm of the standard
I think you will find 18mm is about right........the more through, the faster it steers. Mine are approx 25mm and it steers bloody quick!
Thanks folks for posting, I had written down 18.4mm in the Haynes I just missed it. Measured it and set but I have a carbon yoke cover which adds a mm hence the 20mm ish.
If you get tank slappers, it isn't the distance through the yoke.....check or slacken the headstock bearings a bit.
Has anyone fitted a steering damper to reduce tank slappers ? Ohlins do a nice pricey bolt on I believe .
I don't think it is that bad, to justify one on these bikes more of a head shake on bumpy surfaces when accelerating hard
