996S 30000 miles, some service history but lots done by indies or owner. Fairings repainted and loadsa decals. BIP with mono seat. Worth £5500?
totally depends on condition.. has it been loved and pampered by a caring owner who has maintained it regardless of cost, or does it look like it's been ridden through a salt bath and the 'service history' is little more than the odd oil change and fixing bits that have dropped off?
Just need to persuade SWIMBO now. Anyone care to post a testimonial? I already have a Panigale R and a Hypermotard SP…
Service to 9000 then independent afterwards. Looks in pampered condition, but would take chunks of savings. Should I be bothered about repaint of fairings and decals? “S” derivation not an issue.
It will feel very alien coming from a pani r . Slow ,noisy and bloody uncomfortable, oh and the brakes will be shite. But then ..... you get used to it again and you realise your on a 996 with the termis bellowing out the back and nothing else in the world matters
Looks OK in the vid, my only big question would be why has the frame been replaced/repainted - i'm pretty sure it shouldn't be red for the MY, although someone may come along with more knowledge than me and confirm?.
996S (03-2001)7000 euro's + 1000 euro service about a year ago... https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/35-years-owning-11-bmws.85780/
*Vomit* Red chain, anodised tat.. bodywork looks like a Chinese kit if that bothers you, bike looks clean and loved though ♂️
None came as std painted red but there were a handful of red ones painted at the beginning. MT’s bike had a red frame a long with a few more specials mainly the racing ones.
Surely the question's when you come to sell a bike, what would put you off from buying it, your half way there if you can answer that one.
Thats’s probably my motivation, and your statement about the money spent seems very apt, as is the case with all the ‘project’ bikes I’ve done in the past (748SPS, Multistrada, Pan European, KTM 950) which never returned either the money or the time I spent on them, but definitely left me with that sense of satisfaction at having left it better than I found it. Perhaps I might haggle him down, or possibly hoard my £ to finance the forthcoming Cost of Energy price rises. We’ll see. PS what is “Sheffield Money”?
