  1. I saw this on the carby Facebook page. I've heard of stories of frames cracking, but never seen one. Gutted for the guy.

  2. What causes it? I'm guessing just the metal rotting from the inside out?

  3. One to many wheelies!

  4. Sure its just not the paint cracked?

  5. It’s quite a well documented fault
There’s a thread on here somewhere on how to fix it.

  6. Frame tubes cracking around the headstock area is well known and documented.
My 1995 900 developed a much less obvious crack - which did look like a line on the paint - at five years old.
Ducati supplied a replacement frame but I had to pay the labour to have it changed over.
If you can source another frame its not a huge job. I'm no pro mechanic but I know enough to be able to complete the changeover in a couple of weekends. if I was 30 years younger it would be a couple of long evenings!
I avoid FB but I'm tempted as I have a 94 900 in bits with a sound frame that just needs a repaint - which is not for sale.
