France Trip (reflective Helmet Sticker) Conundrum.

  1. Hi all

As per title heading over to France on the bike, and have just brought a very nice arai and have now found out the french law states you must have reflective stickers on all four sides of lid and they cannot be the removable type.....really don't want to stick anything on a brand new lid.

Opines please i.e. has anyone recently been over to france and didn't bother with the stickers?

    Cheers in advance

    Greg

Ps any other tips or tricks would be welcome.

  2. I have never bothered and never had any issues

Neither has anyone with us or anyone I know.

  3. Ok thanks, don't think I'm gonna bother. really don't wanna ruin my arai

  4. We have lived here for 12 years and have never bothered with them.

  5. I've put them on my helemt for trips to France in the last 2 years. Some others on the trips didn't bother. I won't next time as the ones I put on were a pig to remove after I was back home and I spent a couple of hours sat on the sofe cleaning my helmet :Wideyed:

Contrary to the percieved myth, I've never had a pick of bother with PC Pierre.

  6. If they come behind you with the blue lights and siren on, GIVE IT A BIG HANDFUL ! :)

  7. I would suggest that you would need to be riding like an idiot to get stopped and they might look for crap like that if you give them lip. If it is just a document stop at the side of the road then they will have no interest in anything else apart from documents.
Don't forget they are and arm of the military and most of them have been trained to ride bikes at some time in their career.

  8. Just back from a trip on the continent via France and didnt bother with them ....... no problems at all :)

  9. As above haven't bothered in the past, and will apply the same sentiment for any future French road trips.

  10. Just bought a new Bell helmet and they have supplied reflective stickers for use in France, but in their "care of your new helmet", you are advised against adding any stickers, as they may cause damage and weakening of the structure. How do you get round that one? Avoid going to France?

  11. There is no law in France that says you must have reflective bits on your helmet as there is no legal requirement to carry a breathalizer although if you go into the shops in ferry or tunnel terminals you'd hardly believe it. I do believe that you need a hi vis jacket in case of breakdowns. One jacket per person on or in the vehicle and it must be accessable from within or on the vehicle.
