1200 DVT Front Brake Disc Warped

  1. Hi all
I purchased a 2015 DVT Multistrada S in 2017 with 4100 miles and having just been serviced by the local Ducati dealer . From that time to now I have only managed to put 2000 miles on the bike . Having owned the bike for approximately 3 months I noted a pulsing when using the front brake! Given that I was not using the bike I ignored it . I recently dropped the bike off to my local indie for a belt change and service and he has confirmed that the left front disc is warped slightly. There is minimal wear on the disc . Has anyone experienced this on a low mileage bike ? What replacement discs would you recommend?

  2. With the low mileage , I’d be checking the bobbins are free before looking at discs

  3. The pads must have been dragging and overheated the disc causing it to warp.

  4. This is a common problem due to the very light weight OEM discs the bike comes with. Same problem on my 2015 1200S after 29000km when i bought it second hand

Replaced it with some Brembo series 1 discs - as the picture below shows, the top oem has substantially less metal to soak up heat (Series 1 shown below)

  5. Also had the same issue with low mileage on my old 2015 DVT , replaced under warranty.

  6. Thanks for the replies ! Bobbins appear ok , brakes have always been free from the discs . I’ll contact my local dealer and enquire about any goodwill before I replace the discs .

  7. Don’t rule out the Series Oro versions if you have to replace.

  8. All sorted ! Bobbins had seized exasperating the pulsing feel when braking . As there was no wear on the disc a little sanding of the left disc sorted a slight distortion !
