Looking to get one of these for my track bike and can only really find a Rizoma one but (unsurprisingly) it is massively expensive ! Anyone running one that can make any recommendation ?
I've brought a lightec brake protector from Jhp Ducati Coventry, looks the dogs dangled bits.pictures to follow.better than the rizoma me thinks
Lightech ones get my vote. No experience, but I've had my eye on them for a while (as well as on their rear sets).
Anyway, here are a few alternatives Dion Device Driven D-Axis Brake Lever Guard GPTECH LEVER Protector Graves Motorsports Brake Lever Guard Performance Cycleworx' Pro Brake Lever Guard Rizoma ProGuards (this unit is sold on Ebay under a number of different names) Sato Racing Brake Lever Guard Vortex V3 Brake Lever Guard Woodcraft Brake Lever Guard
Also interested why they seem to be more commonly used for the brake but not the clutch? Discuss ! ... Cancel my last... I get it now...
Don't bother..... Tried the rearsets, for the money they are crap...... I've since returned to gilles
When I found that the Brembo race front brake set up on my track 748R was how shall I say, aggressive, a brake lever protector seemed essential to my mind. I was at Brands, what was it 2 or 3 years ago, when Lowes (?) clipped a mechanic threading his way through the grid and went arse over tit ruining his and the team's day. Without realising it I bought the Rizoma street version which is cheaper than the race version but just as functional. Andy
Cheers for the replies; I feel now some what enlightened... And I might put one one the 848; just because I can... However... What is the difference between a road and race unit, apart from cost...:Vomit: Bob
Sorry for the thread hijack, but what made them crap? Bad design, crap quality? @comesunt The racing version seems to have more adjustability and it only comes in black.
Re: Chinese guards - I have used 'the2wheels' on eBay for cheap levers and to be honest they were bloody good! I had them on one of my earlier bikes. I know lots of people won't touch Chinese levers with a barge pole but with regards to these guards there really isn't anything to wrong with them so I'm guessing you could buy the cheap Chinese one with confidence.
