I have noticed a very few small droplets of liquid around the cap on the front brake reservoir and also on the r/h mirror stem on the last couple of rides. Anyone else had this? I have checked the tightness of the cap bolts and they seem fine but the cap does seem to fit closer to the reservoir base rim, around the bolts than on the sides with no bolts.
I experienced that. I removed the cap and the gasket, wiped them down and reassembled carefully, making sure that the contact between the reservoir and the gasket was good. No further leaks. It seemed as though the gasket had somehow dislodged slightly, losing the seal. Nick
I have the same, not a serious leak just a few drops on the mirror stem. Dont know if its psychological or what but ever since I noticed I'm sure the brakes have felt slightly spongy. Service soon so will get them to sort it out.
+1 this has happened on my 2011 and 2013 models, doesn't seem a problem other than concerns about the corrosive effect of the fluid.
Exactly the same happened on my 12 plate, remove screws and lid, clean all surfaces and rubber gasket and re assemble. No more unsightly leaks.
My 13 model does it too. Looking at the cover, it looks slightly higher on 2 sides as if it has warped slight due to the screws being tightened from new. I'm gonna try the removal and clean to see if that works. Until then, a lovely reservoir cover is keeping fluid from dripping on the mirrors!
Cut the top off an old black sock so its about 50mm wide, turn the edges in, and then fold it to half the width and force it over the cap so it covers the lip of the cap..........use a very thin cable tie if necessary.......... You can never be sure you have wiped the d*mn covers dry.....
