Front End Issue

  1. Morning all

So after a day in the highlands the front end of my 1299 feels like I have a soft tyre or the brakes are binding? Checked both multiple time but brakes not hot and tyre pressure on the button. Also checked the fork seals but no leaking there either.
The bike feels like it doesn’t want to turn and feels heavy on the front.
any idea where I might want to look please as I’m off the bike for a couple of days and I’m 650 miles from home and would be a ball ache getting it recovered.

    cheers

  2. Steering damper problem?

  3. Have you checked the suspension settings via the screen/software? Think it’s in the DES ? Not near my bike to check.

  4. No I haven’t mate. Any reason it would change?

  5. Moving the bars feels like it’s all moving free? Are they known to fail? And if so can I un plug it and use the bike?

  6. Not sure what happens if you unplug it could always temporarily remove the damper physically and try the bike

  7. good call, can't think what else fits the symptoms. A high mileage, poorly worn/ridged front tyre can inhibit turning but i doubt you've left yours to get to this point.

  8. Correct mate, tyre only had a few hundred miles on it when leaving

  9. Are the dampers electricaly controlled?? Is it a 1299s??

  10. Yes they are mate, also yes it’s a 1299s

  11. Hey Ralph, it’s software innit….configuration may have changed. Worth a check. You can turn the steering damper right down too….

  14. Any update? Just interested.

  15. Slow puncture and slight binding, assuming 4 ferries, all the salt and some dusty roads were enough?
Got to Inverness and had the bike looked over, all the things I thought or was concerned about were in good order.
All sorted and a blast for the rest of the trip.
    Cheers mate
