Posted this on the NA Ducati site but got no answers... I've tried to order the metal screens for the air intake openings on my 06-749S. However, the dealer (twice) has brought in the plastic ones for the 03-04 model. I have referenced all the years from the microfiche for 749's (and 999's) and all years spec the same #s. 46031021A and 46031031A (the plastic 03/04 screens). In fact, the 2007 USA 999 shows the right screen but still has wrong bloody part #. Attached is a pic of the screens I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Get some expanded alloy mesh from diy shop or eBay. Cut with scissors. Bend by hand. Glue in with silicone sealant. You might have trouble getting exact fine mesh 1mm x 1mm, but larger hardly notices.
I did this got some similar mesh from B&Q pretty easy to do I used hot glue gun but guess silicone is just as good Just make sure the mesh is rustproof I just sprayed mine after cutting to shape with silver paint
Looked at the expanded mesh route but, yes, was having trouble finding that small of mesh. Was considering stainless steel from a heavy kitchen strainer too. Got a response late last night from a Ducati dealer in the US with right numbers. Seems parts guy there had same issues and tracked down right #s. pieces are $10 CAN, so will try the cut n glue first! Thanks!!!
