Ihave been struggling with an extremely poor quality front paddock stand, very unsafe. ....now does anyone, or can anyone recommend the best bobbins to put on, and can I put them on my 749s 2004 model?????
R&G appear to be very popular. I have some on forks, rear spindle and under the fairing and they protected my bike from a fairly serious off at Brands. No damage to the bike and just a few scuffs on the fairing.
Beware paddock stand and bobbins. I have to remove bobbins if I am using the headstock stand (cheapish one). Depends on the stand you are using
i bought a bike lift headstock lift stand recently, great bit of kit alos used a harris universal front stand that has prongs the sit under the for legs, also a nice bot of kit i like r&g fork bobbins for protection but dont know if id trust supporting the bike on them
I didnt think he would be using them to put the stand ON ala the rear bobbins?! Agree, wouldnt trust them at all. The pins front stands I've seen are excellent but I have a nagging thought someone put me off them for a good reason, but cant remember why
Should just be a nut in the middle of the bobbin, attaches to a threaded bar that goes right through.
Through the front spindle, and not designed to be used as a fulcrum for a paddock stand. In fact if you use rthat method the only use for the paddock stand would be get the wheel in the air so you can put tyre warmers on. Or maybe just spin it round and go - "whooa - cool it goes round" So bobbins are not the answer for a crap paddock stand - a new paddock stand is the answer. Have a look around the site , there are a fair few posts on the subject. I use two types, - underheadstock - great for everything, and harris pin type - ok for changing wheel etc - but no good for fork work.
