1200 Front Paddock Stand For Ohlins Type Forks

  1. I hate questions like this but from doing lots of web searches about mulistrada 1200 front paddock stands , it seems the vast majority of info littered across google always points towards buying either a Bursig, Envy, 1jac or Abba stand.

Whilst all of those are nice stands I really could do with just knowing which normal paddock stand is a good secure fit for the base of the ohlins. I'll probably buy a 1jac or similar at some stage but right now I'd rather spend £300 on parts for the bike and only £30-£40 on the front paddock stand as my genuine rear ducati one is fine.

I currently have one with pads like the below which I use on my R1, problem is the base of the Ohlins simply won't sit correctly on them and the pads keep slipping and folding back

So which type are you guys using?

The ones with the two prongs either side?

Or the ones with one locating pin each side pointing upwards? I did run my finger under the bottom of the forks and couldn't feel a hole so guess the locating pin style don't work

There are always the headstock stands which I wouldn't mind, although I believe you have to drill out a hole in the underside cover or remove it from the bike completely?

  2. So

    Pin style -

    Or prong style?

  3. I have both those in the work shop and neither will work. The ducati stand uses nylon bobbins that pick up on the lower radial caliper mount.

  4. Say again :)

  5. i use the first one in the original post you have to push under more as it was for first edition multi but took both wheels off this morning using it , just be careful works a treat

  6. most use the second type and put it under the caliper mounts rather than fork bottoms

  7. rather you than me, doesn't look to steady

  8. very steady mate , will be like this until tomorrow until i get my wheels back after having the pr4's fitted

  9. I use an old Scorpion rear paddock stand, but replace the cup/hooks with a steel bar I found - works a treat and I can jack it up on my block paving without it all twisting and falling over.

You could probably pick a used one up dirt cheap on fleabay, save a few quid?

Downside - can't get the wheel out :(

  10. I just can't get it to lift without them buckling and then folding, fooking thing.

  11. The two pronged version?

I thought that might be the case.

I've looked at the ducati one but for £160 odd quid I'd rather not bother, I think I'll go headstock or the two pronged version

  12. Cheers chaps

  13. mot sure how headstock would fit on a multi, it may not lift the front wheel far enough if at all

  15. I used the two prong type on my 2010 MTS, not used yet on the 2013 but I guess it would be same, I just put the pegs under the calipers as someone said earlier.
