1200 Front Paddock Stand Recommendations?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Ethel the Aardvark, Nov 27, 2024.

  1. Having removed the centre stand from my 2010 multistrada, and about to replace the front discs, any recommendations for a front paddock stand that makes it easy to remove the front wheel? I'm looking at this - lifts below the bottom yoke:

  2. They are generally pretty good for access for sports bikes, not sure how work on a MS but I have taken the paint of a nose cone on one bike (Was a track bike so didnt care)

The other option, does it have dimples on the under side as can use these with the prongs, this is what I use now - dont get in the way of spindle access compared to standard front stands:

  3. If the one that lifts on the headstock fits your bike, it's probably the most useful as you can drop the forks out with it too.
I use one on my track bike but, it's too low for the multi.

  4. Unfortunately not - Ohlins forks don't have those useful little indents

  5. That's what I was thinking - I'd like to find one that does both my 749R and the Multi. Those eBay ones do look to be adjustable though.

  6. Yes it is adjustable, it looks good, just need the right size locating pin for each bike I presume.

  7. The under headstock ones are far superior in terms of stability, but beware not all Ducatis have a hole in the bottom of the lower yoke.
I had to drill one in my 999 yoke and sleeve the inside of the tube to accept a pin.

  8. I've got one of these. Not currently in stock though. Not fantastically strong, wouldn't sit on the bike when it's on this stand, adequate and cheap. I tend to use it in conjunction with the centre stand on my 1260 Multi and the 1260PP for front wheel and brake servicing. I used to use it on my MV Turismo with a rear stand paddock stand. You need a stable stand, either centre or rear paddock, to use these, otherwise the bike will be at serious risk of falling over.

When used with a centre stand it's important to have the adjustment in the headstock stand as you need to lift the front just enough to get the wheel off the floor without the rear wheel making contact. Note that due to this I do need to unbolt the front mudguard and lift it to provide sufficient clearance to get the front wheel out.

  9. I’ve got an ABBA stand that is surplus to requirements which I need to get round to selling. You can lift the front wheel if you put weight on the back of the bike, but not that stable (I think they do an add on part though to make this easier)

  10. They look great but - as you say - there seems to be no cost-effective way to get them to the UK :(

  11. Update: just tried to order a Motea stand - delivery quoted was some time in May 2025. Back to the drawing board then…
