I have never used a front paddock stand (under yoke type) having always relied on rear paddock stand, bike bench and jack. I bought one a while back gone to use it and the upper part the A frame if you like does not lock into place? Is this right? Surely if you push the bike it will collapse onto itself? Or am I just a simpleton???
Simpleton Use it with the rear first off! The pin that fits in the headstock lower triple prevents it pivoting and makes for a very stable stand
First time I used one I was completely befuddled....Why doesn't it collapse....? I still think it's white man's magic!
A practical solution to the problem, if you have timber around if not cheaper to buy a £50 stand from amazon . But I do l love the Heath Robinson-esque design. No disrespect meant
Since when did a 4.0 metre length of 4" x 2" and four shelf brackets cost anywhere near £50?? 'Kin hell - I bet doing up your bike has cost you a fortune!! Got money to waste, I reckon.
Time is money al, 2 mins on the puter, vs trip to timber merchants 30 miles = 1 hr, building it 1 hr at my day rate not even close plus materials . Like I say .
I have some magic beans you could buy - if you plant them under your bike, they'll grow into a stand for it. Watch out for giants though.
by the time its finished real bean seed would have done the job, Al, not got money to waste, but when certain companies have charged 20% more for bits I would use the word trusting or maybe gullible .
I think that's just an excuse because you can't cross cut a piece of 4" x 2" at right angles.... Mind you --- on that basis, it probably took you ages to bolt together the thing you bought on the internet anyway....
