V2 Front Spindle Bobbin Recommendation Please

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Simon19, Feb 18, 2022.

  1. As above, looking for some fork protection for the V2 but I'm after the type where its like a bung that presses into the OEM spindle, not the EvoTech or R&G types that come with their own additional spindle - any ideas please?

    Cheers

  2. Speak to JHP they sell plastic bungs that fit into the spindle and you don't remove them, no need to remove them to undo your front wheel nut etc.

They used to be around £20 a set, probably more now.

  3. Awesome thats exactly what I was looking for, had some on my 959 but didnt know which brand they were. Spoke to JHP and there's a pair in the post. Cheers. (£28 not plus post)

Any similarly useful recommendations for swing arm protection? I asked JHP but they dont so anything.

  4. Any chance you could stick a few pictures up when you get them?

  5. Will do, expecting them on Tuesday. This is a not very good shot of the ones I had on the 959. Its just a plastic bung that sits in the OEM spindle and spindle nut - the one of the other side is the same but bigger diameter.

Because they sit inside you dont have to remvoe them to change the front wheel unlike the tpye where you put an extra spindle through the front axle

  6. No problem.

The V2 has a SSSA doesn't it? So there isn't anything really for them. To be honest the rear axle probably isn't going to hit the ground as the tyre is wider, but I would say get a swingarm protector/cover as that will hit the deck.

  7. Arrived today, just a plastic bung for each end of the axel but they work the same as the spindle type, just without the spindle

  8. Perfect thanks, how are they held in place?

  9. They’re just an interference fit, they’re tight once they’re in. I tested them a couple of times on the 959 and never lost one

  10. They're hard to get in and harder to get out once you've mullered them, but they do the job and it saves all the hassle of having to remove them before swapping the wheel/tyre.

  11. The Other Side
Wheel bobbins / axle sliders will add a few pounds to your wheels and make your suspension work harder and less efficiently.
People spend thousands upgrading to lighter Forged, Mags or CF wheels to shed weight to improve handling.
They're a pain which must be removed to place your bike on your paddock stands.
Moreover, should you bail, your bike will sustain a lot more damage than your scratched forks or swingarm.
Lowering your insurance deductible is money better spent IMHO.
Personally, these accessories are simply UN-sprung Junk.
That's just my contra opinion btw. YMMV.

  12. My front axle mounted sliders together, weigh 68 grams which rather undermines the weight arguement. They also don't require unmounting to remove the axle pin or use a front paddock stand which undermines the PITA arguement. If I drop my bike at slow speed or even a zero speed step off, the sliders will do their job. If I fall off at speed, nothing I can put on the bike is likely to prevent a write off. Andy

  13. I was referring to this stuff. It's just an opinion. To each his own.

  14. Seriously can’t believe I’m reading someone saying that frame sliders “make suspension work harder”. People don’t half talk some bollox sometimes.

  15. Axle Sliders! Who said anything about Frame sliders?
Some people just don't know how to read. ;)
