2014 multi std abs Strange issue yesterday got me a little worried for my sanity....not unusual for me Removed front sprocket made mental note of orientation (first mistake). Cleaned up all the crap removed sleeve to clean.. I have a new o ring ready and new washer. In the manual which I admit might not be for my year exactly.... shows the boss on the sprocket facing inwards... Mine was fitted boss facing out. Frantic searching on line found every pic showed boss facing in. Although I was certain I was right including the wear pattern on the sprocket backs me up and the fact the sprocket will not go back in with the boss facing in.... Also if I was able to get the sprocket back on boss facing in.... It would be out of line with chain run by about 10mm... So way out. Eventually found a couple of guys with same issue in states.... And a pic from a duc manual showing boss outward like mine. Whew! Anyone know of this....? I'd be interested to know why this came about..... Cheers Gerr
No... Wouldn't think so as I bought it at duc dealer ex demo 800 miles on clock is original sprockets... Chain etc...part numbers etched on . The existing sprocket wont go back In boss facing in...I also put spacers behind it to simulate what it would be like boss facing in..... The chain wouldn't fit in as the sprocket up is up against the clutch slave and sprocket out of line with chain guides .... But im OK now with it... Just wondered if anyone else seen this...I guess it's year/vin specific.. Don't forget I've seen a pic in a duc manual with sprocket fitted like mine...
Grrrr I gave up reading at 'removed front sprocket' - 3 words, 3 piddly little words. Took me 3 fecking weeks and about 300 odd posts on here to get mine off . Anyway, once I got over the efficiency with which @Gerr removed the FS I checked and sure enough, 2014 MTS Standard w/ABS has the boss facing outwards Part 12 in the attached drag
That will be the 2014 MTS Standard w/ABS "I" model, they exported several to the fair isle back 'den.
I jammed the back brake on..... I used a cheapo impact driver.... One I got years ago... Runs off car battery and gets wheel nut off cars. .... It wouldn't come off with socket and 1ft bit of pipe......
