Front wheel grease seal

  1. The one that the speedo drive is fitted into..........Anyone have a manufacturer / supplier (apart from Ducati)?

Or I might simply lift the old one out, drop a a big diameter O ring into the back of it, and then push it back in.

    They come out easy enough.

  2. Oh well....Nobody knows...maybe.

Anyway, solved with a famous AL bodge cure again.......

Found a couple of O rings (not big enough diameter for a single one) and made a single cut through one, cleaned out the 'groove at the back of the grease seal, dripped in a small amount of supaglue and really squeezed the O ring into the groove (it goes between the actual seal lip and the outer steel ring of the seal). Then cut a shorter piece out of the other O ring to make up the gap and squeezed that in.

The effect is that the O-ring pushes the seal out which decreases the ID...........and the metal ring that slides in, fits tighter to the seal lip without rubbing on the O ring.

The seal depth is about 3.5mm before the bodge and about 4mm with the O ring in place.......The recess in the hub is about 4.4mm.......so the supaglue might not be needed.
