1299 Fuel Light?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by pauly, Aug 4, 2021.

  1. Is the diddy fuel light the only low fuel warning, or is there a countdown that can be displayed on the dash?

  2. Theres an indication of how far youve travelled since it came on on your dash. My advice is dont go past 20m.

  3. Have you run out of fuel past 20 miles?

  4. I got my 1198 to 25m after the light. I don't want to do that again. It was france, scheduled fuel station was being overhauled so had to do next one. It was on fumes. It was tense. It was a sunday. 20 is just my limit to keep my mind from panic. I spent what felt like a lifetime pushing lambrettas to fuel stations because I was too stubborn to stop earlier. Fuck pushing one of these. But please feel free to see how far you can get. I wouldn't like to bet much more than 25 in 6th at 3k. (ish)

  5. My girlfriend’s Diavel did just that :( Andy

  7. ? I’m perfectly calm.

  8. The fuel light comes on and then your trip shows zero and counts up, so you know how far you have travelled since the light came on.

Not much help, if you work on 20 miles from the light at least it gives you some idea.

  9. :upyeah: I did 140 miles yesterday, and the fuel light came on twice. Each time I was around 10 miles from the nearest petrol station. Looks like I'll have to plan my rides around fuel stops :(.

  10. My light comes on then goes off. Then on again etc. Depends on banking angle / braking / acceleration. Once solid on I run 20 miles or so. But can never get more than 14litres in it when it holds at least 17.
So I think you can run further. If you want to risk it.

  11. The fuel light is one thing that annoys me with this bike. Usually comes on for me at around 90-95 miles, but when the light comes on there's still 5L left in the tank. So with a 17L tank capacity, using 12L to get 95 miles, means I should still be able to do another 39 miles until empty. I'm too chicken to actually test the theory though, but for me 30 miles of range on the fuel light should be comfortable and I just follow the on screen trip. Even then that seems to stop and start depending on the angle of the bike so when I'm just tipping into "reserve".

The system on my old Suzuki was much better. Light started flashing when you got to reserve, then went solid when you had under 2L left or something as a genuine fill up now you idiot moment.

  12. My light comes on usually just as i'm taking the f***er off its paddock stands for the next session !!!

  13. Thought they held 4 litres on 'reserve' ?used to get 40-50 miles out of my 996 when light on, but about 30 on my 999 ( ran out once 200 yds from petrol station) never tested the 1198 or 1199.....

  14. Same and I used to just risk it and always made it.... However I'm never risking it again as I ran out of fuel at Cadwell at Chris curve. Had to push the bike across the grass, down a bank then walk all the way back to the paddock in shame :sob:. (Session wasn't stopped and no one last track time)
