How do I check the vents on my fuel tank? (S2R 800) When I open the filler cap I hear a "vacuum" release so I'm guessing the vent/s are blocked.
If you lift up the filler cap you will see a rubber "grommet" towards the rear. This mates against the filler and allows the tank to breathe through a vent in the lock assembly. There is a hose inside the tank which connects to an outlet stub under the tank. There is another stub under the tank which is connected to the filler drain which allows water and overspilled fuel to drain away. These are connected by a rubber Y-shaped hose to a single hose that exits under the bike. Either the hose is kinked under the tank OR there is a build up of muck under the grommet, blocking the airway.
