I have seen a few posts recently where people have asked about sat nav kit for bikes that dont cost as much as the bike specific stuff. When i bought my Garmin 1490 (£165) for the car i did not consider using it on the bike and its not suitable, great in the car though. Did not want to buy a zumo so i have modified mine with a 3.5mm jack . This allows the internal speaker to work while in the car , plug a headset in and it will work on the bike ! Garmin repair centre's have told me this is not possible and you may have been told the same but it works and its a lot cheaper than £400 or so for a zumo.
