Gasket Compound On Barrel Gasket Or Not?

  1. Hello folk,
I'm considering wether to put hylomar on the gasket surface of the barrel gasket (only) - do you consider this is a good idea?
The reason is, that I noticed some kind of shellac or something similar on both barely surfaces when stripping down.
    Thanks,
    John

  2. Hylomar would work, but Threebond 1215 grey is a better sealant

  3. I use the one made in Ireland...Treebond....:bomb:

  4. Thanks guys, I asked because Haynes didn't mention it, but I saw the original traces.
I used Hylomar anyway. I'll look into the Threebond - must be special...

meanwhile, I've forgotten what , if any hose, goes into the inner carb vent tank - can't for the life of me figure out what the holes in are for or how it works.

  5. Study this, maybe it will help.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  6. Grateful. The air intake filters/tubes - do they just push into the holes in the inner plastic vent box, then?

  7. If you mean the triangular black box, yes.
