998 Gearbox Output Shaft Seal

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by funkatronic, Feb 16, 2022.

  1. Hi all
i have weeping oil seal from the gearbox output shaft on my 2002 998s (ie behind the front sprocket)

i can find the part number for the o ring that goes inside the spacer but i cant for the life of me work out the correct part number for the wiper seal from the parts fiche, can anyone help with the size or parts numbers ?

    is it this one? 93040221A size 35x 52 x 7mm

would buying a seal in the correct size direct form NOK or SKF suffice to save on ducati mark up ?

    thanks al

  3. Bless your heart, i'm sorry, as initially got mixed up with gearchange shaft.. silly Chris.

  4. Yes Al, you have the dimensions and part number correct for 998. :upyeah: (i.e. - 35 mm)
due to massive mark-up (I know it can vary and sometimes reasonable) I nearly always get via SKF etc. :upyeah:

  5. Oil seals are oil seals AFAIK, it's not as if Ducati make them.

I replaced the seals in my M900 engine with parts bought from an online bearing supplier, they cost just a few quid and arrive next day.
