Done Portimao before, but never on the 848 She's still on standard gearing (15/39 I think) I was going to go 15/42 for Portimao, but worried I might run out of revs down main straight? Ideas & thoughts??
Take some sprockets with you. I have no idea if your quick, inter or dont belong on a track pace. I used to run 14/38 on the 853r, it was oke for fast group. I go batteered down the start finish striaght by litre bikes, made it up plus some on rest of the circuit. Wind conditions, rain and how much alcohol you have consumed the night before will have a large impact on gearing. It s a bumpy old place when you get a shift on there nowadays.
Yep, suppose it'd about time I treated myself to a 520 chain and sprocket set with a quick-changer for the rear a a few sprockets? Another thing to go onto the shopping list; QuickShifter also on the list
I've heard the surface has got so bad they're using contra flows and speed limits on some areas of track.
It is indeed a bit bumpy these days. It's not ageing well at all. I prefer Almeria, Portimao can be a bit dodgy with the weather. Good luck on that score.
Its not glass smooth but it's no Castle Combe either... I love Portimao, its a bonkers roller coaster.
I loved it as well, and MH your right re weather last time I was there we contemplated building a bloody ark. Jerez in March which was very smooth last year.
Jerez ain't too far away geographically from Portimao. During winter a lot of wet stuff gets swept in from Atlantic. Mind you, I've known it piss down in Almeria too.
