  1. Been out for a while as only got the bike mondsy.
Standard sprockets on it and read to put a 14 front sprocket on ... Or go up 1 or 2 teeth at the back ... Chain is OK so don't really want to change it ... Cheers guys

  2. Sooooo much better with a 14T front :upyeah:

  3. Will give it a try then :D

  4. Didn't get on with the 14t myself. Made mway speeds right in a really buzzy area of the rev range and hurt tank range a bit too. As I tour a fair bit that was a problem. It also knackered my chain pretty quickly.

Ended up going up on the back instead. If you don't tour or use Mways you might get on with it better than I did.

  5. One off the front is a common mod

  6. My preference tbh would be to go up 1 or 2 at the back ...will look around, found it quite hard locating a rear sprocket tbh ... some were £99 ... is that right

  7. Just going 2 up on the rear will shorten the wheelbase a little (not saying that's bad) & is less of a gearing change than going down 1 on the front.

  8. you need a quick change sprocket carrier and then you can use Renthal sprockets etc at £25 ish each.
If you go 2 up on the back you will need a longer chain as with a 55 profile tyre it pulls it far enough forward to rub the swinger.

As the eccentric cam for chain adjust messes with right height as well as wheelbase with big movements, it's best to try and go for a config that doesn't go to extremes. I went up 2 on the back and ran a slightly longer chain which kept it fairly neutral.

  9. Hello for everyone,

I used on my 999 -1 on fron and +2 on rear and it was fantastic. During the winter time i will install also on my 1198.

  10. Would the 1198 want to wheelie all the time?

  11. Can be that in 1. and 2. gear will be more wilder but i am sure that if i go thru in the city or villages it will be more comfortable. I will update you regarding results after the change.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  12. Think i might go 14t front and 39rear, ... will this mean the standard 98 link chain will be ok?

  13. Chain length should be fine but that's a big change from stock, 170 horses with that setup's gonna be wild :Wacky:

  14. Ah yeah .... keep thinking aprilia rsv ... maybe just 14t front then lol

  15. Hello everybody,

On weeknd i was made some km with a new gearing 14-40 and its very short in 1&2 gear and also very "wild" but very good for city ride and now i can use the 6th gear on a normal road as well :) . On a track i need to try in next year, could be that will to short but for that case i alreday purchased the 39th rear sporcket. The chain lenght is ok for all 3 versions.
