Geometry!!!

  1. does anyone have any handy links for a site which lists Ducati frame and suspension geometry?

in particular i am after head angles, rake and trail for the ST4, 1098, 848 and the Streetfighter.

i need to do some maths to see if using 848 yokes will make the project bike too pointy...

  4. Ok now I have a clearer head I have a few more questions.

Head angles and offset? do ducatis run the same head angle as the fork rake? i.e. is the triple clamp offset the same for the top and bottom clamp?

What is the triple clamp offset of the stock ST4 setup?

I've been googling for a couple of hours now and I'm none the wiser

basically i'm trying to work out if using the stock 848/1098 triple clamps on my ST4 project bike will reduce the trail too much and make the bike unstable.

  5. ok then, after a hell of a lot of googling (and not much work this morning) I think I have an answer, after playing with the numbers in AutoCAD I have come up with this.

assuming the yokes don't adjust the rake angle the 848/1098 yokes will reduce my trail to below 90mm, that would make for one hell of a twitchy ride and be quite unstable at speed, however the Streetfighter yokes seem to give a very similar profile (again as long as they do not adjust the rake angle). If I find its a little sluggish to turn in I can always drop the forks through the yokes a few mm...

I just need to know if the yokes are a consistent offset top and bottom?

  6. The steering tube is as far as i'm aware concentric , no idea though if the yokes would make a difference to rake. I'd be interested to find out more though as I'd been thinking of a front end change on my 999
