Hi all, would a German spec 2002 998s have ohlins front forks ? And did it have a deep sump engine that year ? Thanks in advance Kev
There's a 2002 on eBay that's been streetfightered (Why ??!! I know!!!) from Japan, it has ohlins front & rear + deep sump. But other 998 mono from same seller is not deep sump & has Showa front end. Think German one I've spotted is mono or biposta with 'S' deep sump fairing.
Try Google images and search for Ducati 998S - don't look at Japanese Streetfighters for information take note of Ducati official images as many could be upgrades - Bostrom 998S came with Ohlin's forks too I think - but don't think any standard red ones did.
Oh, and my 998 came new with dealer fitted 'S' Engine Kit that Ducati sold as an option - but it still has a shallow sump of course. Proper factory supplied S's will have a deep sump I think - someone will confirm soon...
You just reminded me of Ceefax there with your supply of Ducati based facts. You are obviously a bit decrepit to be compared with Google.
Plenty of pics of Showa front end Not sure where I read that 2002 998s had Ohlin's & deep sump sand cast engine from 996r.
A lot of people with 996S bikes state they are 998R engines - I haven't fathomed out why they say that yet
