  1. Hi i was going to buy a 899 panigale this weekend but i am getting quoted £1800 for insurance is this correct?
My lasts bikes were a k4 gsxr 600 that was about £300 to insure and a April sxv550 and that was £150
My no claims bonuses have now probably expired what can i do? any help would be appreciated thanks.

  3. Sorry
    40
    Electrical engineer
    Manchester
    No accidents or claims
    20 years car no claims
Did have about 5 years no claims on my bikes
    Bike licence since 2006

  4. Sounds a lot. MCE were the only company that would quote for my 1199 when I first bought it. Not saying they are any good as I never claimed but I paid £600. Was 39 at the time with 3 years NCB, passed my test in 2008. I'm with Ducati insurance now.

  5. Thanks for the reply my problem is my no claims have now expired because i haven't had a bike for a while.

  6. I had same issue with no ncb. Had to 3rd party a cheap bike for a year before getting the duke.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  7. had the same after i had been on a break first year back was about 900£ second with 1 years ncb dropped to around 180£
So I would guess you're going to have to suck it up for a year, sorry :/

  8. Are you getting quotes online or ringing insurance companies. If you are just getting quoted online the computer systems don't take into account your past history. I always ring, the person at the other end will take into account you've been riding for a while and have previously had years of no claims bonus. They can refer the quote straight to the underwriters who can act on their own discretion. It seems to me that you may be being quoted as someone who has little or no experience.

  9. Try the better ones like bennets, carole nash, hasting direct, would steer clear from mce
Would have thought you would get a cheaper quote than that, but you are starting from scratch again in most insurer's eyes

  10. Thanks for all the replies. Yes i am just getting online quotes tonight i will call a few tomorrow any recommendations? thanks
    Steve...

  11. i had no recent no NCB but was well looked after by ducati insurance.. might be worth calling them

  12. ridiculous isnt it? 20 years NCB in a car dosnt count for squat yet if you have had a recent claim in your car it would go against you mc insurance

  13. Who's quoted you this Dave? Sounds about £1300 too much to me.
