It's time to put my 900ss away in the garage for the winter. My plan is to put it on a trickle charger/conditioner, spray ACF50 everywhere , put cover over it and start it every few weeks and let it run up to temperature. Any other recommendations ?
Why start it Acf down the pipes, seal them with cling film and leave it. Forget about the cling film in spring, will leave a lovely mess The engine wears on cold starts, so starting won't benefit - won't really harm in the overall scheme of things either. Take your battery off and leave it on the maintainer. Look at last years advice for masses of opinions and info, and the year before, and the year before that. Leave it, it will be fine Hibernate well and worry free. Or bring it in the house where is should be, empty the fuel and run the bike dry, leave the battery separate add tinsel (but not cheap fairy lights - they might ignite)
I turn motor a few degrees by back wheel every couple of months to move belts round and check clutch is free especially with newfren plates as they tend to bond. Keep battery out of cold and trickle charge every month or so.
One I'm going to work on, the other will get turned over a couple of times and the tank's going to get some attention at some point, but until then, it will just sit under its cover in a nice dry garage.
I take the battery off and have small solar battery charger connected up to it while off the bike for winter has been ok last couple of winters
